Bernice Tenort
Bernice is passionate about caring for people, as a nurse leader Bernice refocused her passion 17 years ago from caring for patients as a bedside nurse to caring for the bedside providers as a nurse leader. She has watched the role of nursing evolve over the past 28 years and now more than ever Bernice understands the need for healthcare institutions to offer emotional and mental first aid to those working at the bedside. As a nurse leader, Bernice is able to understand the challenges of today’s healthcare.
Bernice started her nursing career in 1993, then she went on to receive her Bachelor of Nursing from Aspen University and her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Utah. Bernice enjoyed a 17-year career as a nurse leader at the University of Utah. She currently works as the Director of Nursing at Benchmark Behavioral Health. She also works as a trained trauma therapist in private practice, where she implements MindShield as many of her clients in private practice are nurses and first responders dealing with compassion fatigue and burnout. She has also been teaching and implementing MindShield in the community.
